Today has been quite the technically eventful day.

I finally got my grubby hands on Eric’s Athlon CPU, but it turns out that neither Eric’s nor Ellen’s motherboard would boot up with it. I’ve spend too many hours of my wasted youth trying to pin down the problem, but it seems that I may have busted Eric’s CPU in the process of moving it from his motherboard to Ellen’s. Either that, or the motherboards don’t like the power supply. Either way, I’m stuck with two non-functional motherboards, and a junk-filled room.

I hooked up Vegita, my old laptop, to my CD-R, and I started burning some stuff I found on the network. Of course, the more important things to burn would have been either the ISOs of programs that I need for class, or the millions of files on Thundera, my new laptop, which I have been so recklessly storing on this huge, portable hard drive with an LCD screen. Yeah, I’m smart like that.

I finally fixed the stupid problem with the quotes and stuff, so no more of that “teardrop off the face of my mother” crap. I didn’t actually type that up in my last entry, but I had thought of putting it there.

I also stole some ideas from the LiveJournal preview page. Muahahaha! No, Irene, that’s not a stuttering kiss.

Irene found a copy of AutoCAD 2002, and had to brag about it. This is something that I couldn’t find for her for the past year or two. Too bad her screen is too small for her to work efficiently. She really should get an Apple Cinema Display HD. For me.

Oh, I almost forgot. I also updated the site at where I work to use tables instead of stupid images in the background. This way, if the text size were ever changed by the user, or if the fonts were different on other platforms, the text wouldn’t just spill out like it normally did.

Wendy learned to use vim some more. She also learned to put the official Stony Brook logo onto the right side of a page. Congratulate her, she’s very proud of herself.

My router keeps on spitting out hard drive soft errors. I really should prepare for the worst and either back up the hard drive or something.

My middle finger hurts, for some odd reason. It’s been hurting for a couple of days. Maybe it’s the way I use my eraser-head mouse.

My car is still not fixed, as far as I know. I hope my mom drives/drove safely to that bastard place where I fixed it the first time. Cars are so much trouble. We should really stop depending on them so much and invest all our research money into teleportation. Or maybe get a segway. You cannot imagine how much time I just spent, looking up that stupid word on Google Groups. That is the power of amnesia.

Eric seems happy with his new motherboard and CPU. I do hope he doesn’t quickly abandon his guitar because of it, though. It’d be cool if he got really good at the guitar. I know lots of dirty secrets about him that he would gladly pay for me to shut up about, once he got famous. Maybe I’m too optimistic.

Class, Work, and Personal Time

For the past two, three weeks, I have been doing nothing. No real work, anyway. I have just been attending class, doing extra credit here and there, and eating and working out with my friends. I had not even bought my books until two days ago, and even then, I bought them online. Not to mention that I did not really go to work for the first two weeks, and even when I did my schedule, I only gave myself a measly six hours a week. Of course, this is all a protective buffer for me to just appear to work more than I am supposed to be working. Besides, this gives me slack to study and stuff. I am taking 18 credits, something that I have never done before. Can we say, senioritis?

So, what have I accomplished in these three weeks of slacking off? Nothing much, really. I guess one accomplishment I have done is I finally set up my wireless network. (Shh, do not tell the Stony Brook administrators!) I am now typing this blog entry up on my bed, with no wires attached to my laptop at all! Is not that so cool? Unfortunately, I can only use my laptop in my suite, maybe down the hall, if I am lucky. Once I get into the stairwells, forget it. Network cable disconnected.

Another thing that would bring a tear of joy to my dear mother is that I cleaned my room. Now, those of you who have seen my room clean may complain that it is nowhere near as clean as the first couple of weeks when I moved in here, over the summer. But I must say, I did not have so many computers in my room when I first moved in! These computers are basically what have been hogging up all my space. Those, and my books, which I had stupidly not sold, to this day. Maybe I should try to sell them one day. Alas, one more un-accomplishment.

Raging again.

My current profile:

There is nothing wrong with being homosexual or bisexual. There is nothing wrong with teaching about sexual preferences other than the norm. Stop flinging around the words gay, fag, fruit, queer, and whatnot as though there were nothing wrong with it, you fucking niggers, chinks, bitches, whores, gimps, retards, spics, gooks, sluts, tramps, bastards, white trash, japs, kikes, commies, capitalist pigs, FOBs, hoes, dumb blondes, and other pathetic examples of carbon-based garbage.

If you are offended, congratulations. I am not sorry. That was the point of this whole exercise. In fact, if any of you have any other hateful words that I have missed, please let me know. Thanks to Sharon for her informing me that I had forgotten about gimps.

RATM

This is a picture that I found recently. It was not responsible for this outrage, but it was helpful for me to add some more words of wisdom. Yes, I like Rage Against the Machine. I am so sad they do not exist anymore.

Taking notes on a laptop is fun.

Something is wrong.

For some odd reason, the page I wrote does not like to read in quotes and double-quotes. So, I guess I will have to type up stuff without quotes for now.

First day of class so far.

So far, the first day of class has been okay. The first class seems pretty fun, with group projects and no real need for a textbook. In other words, everything involves one big project. I already found a six person group. Of the six, I am confident in the skills of two. I guess that’s enough, though.

I then went to lunch with Eric, at 9:30 AM or so. Reminded us of the days of Stuy, when we had 3rd period lunch.

My second class didn’t happen at all. I went in early, dropped off my stuff, went to the bathroom, and when I came back, I saw a horde of people leaving. I saw a friend of mine, and he told me that the professor was on vacation, and won’t be back until at least September 10th.

Overall, it hasn’t been that bad yet. I’ve still got a couple of classes to go to. Hopefully they won’t be that bad either. I’ve still got to find one “bad” class so that I can drop it, so I can take the CSE308, my first class. Unless of course, I overload, which is suicidal, but then, so is taking a class at 8:20 AM.

September 2, 2002

Yay! I finally wrote the page for entering blog entries! That means: easier blog entry for me! That means: more junk for you to read!

Rejoice!
